Trick or Treat Blog Hoppin' on a Saturday Morning!!

Good morning!  Several bloggers at The Teaching Tribune have joined together to for a "Trick or Treat Blog Hop".  You will find some "tricks" as well as plenty of "treats" as you hop from door to door!  So, that's what I've been doing on this rainy Saturday morning.  I've learned some interesting "tricks" and found some great freebie Halloween "treats".  You should check it out, too! For the first time, I'm linking up with Farley and her Currently link up! From the first day that I started following my Blog Friends, I've loved reading their posts and wanted to participate - but have never have! So, as they say,  here goes!!!

Listening - I'm listening to "Diamonds Are Forever" the Bond Marathon on one of the movie channels.  For some reason I have always loved the Bond films! (Is it too strange if I say I love all of the Godfather movies, too???). I don't really have a favorite Bond, but I have to say that Daniel Craig is at the top since the release of Skyfall...great movie!

Loving - The lazy morning and my cup of coffee...

Thinking - I really wish I had gone to the grocery store on Saturday, but it was the first day of football season...couldn't miss College Gameday!  Can't wait until the Noles play tonight!

Wanting - Another long weekend!!

Needing - Farley's laundry and lesson plan fairy!

For me: 

1.  Get back on my fitness program. I let it slide during the summer..  

2.  Read for enjoyment!  I've spent the summer reading up on Common Core!

3.  More personal time!!

Blog Hoppin' on a lazy Sunday afternoon...

Well, I did survive the first two weeks of school!  Now, I'm trying to enjoy the last "official" weekend of Summer by participating in a Blog Hop and Giveaway to celebrate the "1000 Followers" and "Blogiversary" of two spectacular bloggers!!  Be sure to click either link below to go to Fifth In the Middle or Where the Wild Things Learn blogs and start the hop!  It's a wonderful way to get new ideas AND the prizes look great!!  Congrats (and thanks, too), Dianne and Amelia!  I hope to reach that milestone someday myself!!  Happy Hoppin'!

First Day of School...Oops It's Raining Again...

So...I was up at my classroom all day yesterday getting the last-minute things ready for my kiddos just to find out LATE Sunday night that all district schools were going to be closed on Monday due to the heavy rains and flooded roads!!  I have to admit that I did have mixed feelings...I certainly wouldn't want any of the students to be put into any type of danger while traveling to school-either by bus or car- AND it did give the kids ONE EXTRA day of "Summer";  however, I had finally gotten myself back in the "teacher mode"!  All summer long, my friends and family have told me, "Laurie, you have this...It's just like riding a bike!"  I've jokingly replied, "Yes, but I don't know if I can even ride a bike any longer!"  Anyway...I AM back up on that bike and will start my "ride" tomorrow...I just hope I don't need training wheels...lol

Back in the Saddle Again...

It's Friday afternoon of the first week back for teachers in our district...whew...I made it!  You see, this school year is the first time I've been back in an elementary classroom in almost 10 years.  There are SO MANY changes since I was last in the "teacher mode"!  I'm nervous, yet excited at the same time.  I will be teaching 5th Grade Reading/Language Arts.  I've done so much "homework" this summer trying to get myself ready for Common Core - CAFE, Daily 3/5, Leveled Classroom Libraries...AND  BLOGS!!!  I'm going to give this media a try.  I've learned so much from so many already.  I hope that I can do the same for others!  Excited to be on this adventure...
